Prior to January, 2009 there were two weekly publications in Newton County: The Union Appeal and The Newton Record.
Beginning in Feb., 2009, The Union Appeal took control of both and for a brief time published The Newton Appeal.
It quickly became obvious, however, what our readers wanted and Newton County would be better served by having only one newspaper… thus the creation of the Newton County Appeal.
We are the only publication serving Newton, Union, Decatur, Hickory and the rest of Newton County. We still continue to serve, and have a large circulation area in Neshoba County.
