MDOT suspending work, keeping eye on traffic ahead of busy travel weekend

JACKSON -– Mississippians planning to hit the road to spend time with family and friends this Thanksgiving will notice less travel delays due to construction. The Mississippi Department of Transportation will suspend all interstate and four-lane highway work in anticipation of increased holiday travel.

Mike Hurst sworn in as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi

JACKSON – On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Hickory native D. Michael Hurst Jr. was sworn in as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi by U.S. District Judge Daniel P. Jordan in Jackson. Hurst was nominated by President Donald J. Trump on June 29 and was unanimously confirmed by the Senate on Oct. 3.

Shooting suspect dies

Less than two weeks after he was arrested in the shooting of Latrina Patrick, a Lawrence man has passed away. Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight said Maurice Osborne Sr. died in the early morning hours on Monday, Sept.4 at Anderson's Medical Center in Meridian due to complications with his kidney.
