ECCC Gospel Choir Concert Scheduled Nov. 15

The East Central Community College Gospel Choir will present its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 in the Vickers Fine Arts Center on the Decatur campus.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

The Rev. Johnny Jones of Newton, a former gospel choir member, will be guest speaker. Zashanti Bender, a student and member of the choir at Newton County High School, will be a guest performer.

Brenda Johnson serves as sponsor of the ECCC Gospel Choir.

ECCC Concert Choir, Vocé to Present Fall Program Nov. 16

The East Central Community College Concert Choir and Vocé vocal ensemble will present their fall concerts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in Vickers Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Decatur campus. There is no charge for admission and the public is invited to attend.

Choir selections will include “Jazz Cantate,” “Hark! I Hear the Harps Eternal,” “Betelehemu,” and Breath of Heaven.” Vocé will present “Time After Time,” “Mary, Did You Know,” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.”

NCREP to hold  November meeting

The Newton County Unit of Retired Education Personnel will meet at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria on the campus of East Central Community College. Lunch will be $7 and Randy Cuchens will be the speaker. All retired education personnel are welcome.

Union Chamber to host Christmas Parade on Dec. 2

The Union Chamber of Commerce will host the town’s annual Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 2.

This year’s theme is “The Meaning of Christmas.” Door prizes ranging from $100-$400 will be given away each half hour starting at 5 p.m. from the Union Mini Park Stage on Bank Street.

Winners must be present. Attendees can pre-register at Truhitt’s, Dr. Nicole Harrison’s office and Union Supply. Santa will be on hand along with hot cocoa and coffee and entertainment.

Greater Decatur Chamber and Woman’s Progressive Club to hos Decatur Christmas Parade

The Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce and the GFWC-MFWC Decatur Woman’s Progressive Club will host the annual Decatur Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2. A  “Decatur Dollars” drawing will be held at 5:30 p.m. ECCC’s Warrior Wonderland will follow the parade.

Ministry hosts support groups

Free Indeed Ministries, 110 Main St., Union, is hosting weekly addiction support groups sponsored by Mending Broken Lives ministries at 7-8 a.m. every Tuesday night.
