After a week of relatively warm temperatures icy weather conditions returned to the Newton County area this week.

Hundreds of people in Newton County came out Monday afternoon to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

It took two overtimes but the Newton County Cougars eventually pulled away with a 62-58 win over Leake Central in East Central Community College’s Clash of the Classes on Saturday.

Services for Mrs. Sue L. Addy were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at First Baptist Church of Union with the Rev. David Addy, Dr. Jon Martin, and the Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Burial followed at Union City Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home of Union was in charge of arrangements.
