The Generals lost a pair of games to Leake Academy, falling 7-3 on Monday night and 7-6 on Thursday. Then on Friday, the Generals lost 11-1 to Lamar School to finish out the week.
Members of East Central Community College’s Theta Chi Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda received top honors during the State Leadership Conference and qualified for national competition in 16 categories. National competition will be held this summer in Baltimore, Md. The state conference was held at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus.

Union police arrested two men for car theft last week.
UPD Chief Billy Pat Walker said the department learned that James B. Rice, 31, and Joshua A. Andrews, both of Neshoba County, were spotted in Kosciusko. The two were suspected in the taking of a motor vehicle from the Hilltop Nursing Home in Union on Dec. 12.
Newton County suffered its first vehicular fatality of 2018 on Tuesday evening.
Darryl Henderson, 54, of Union, was killed in a head on collision at around 5:17 p.m. at the I-20 exit on Hwy. 80 near the Marathon gas station.

The City of Union suffered a huge loss this weekend as longtime Union Municipal Judge and Board of Aldermen Attorney Rex Gordon Jr., passed away suddenly late Saturday night.
Newton County coroner Danny Shoemaker said Gordon died of a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead just before midnight at Laird Hospital in Union.
