Services for Mr. Earl Junius Smith were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17 at County Line Baptist Church with burial in the Greenland Cemetery. Bros. Bobby Barfoot and David Jay officiated.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16 at Milling Funeral Home of Union and one hour prior to service at the church.
Mr. Smith, 90, of Union, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Specialty Hospital of Meridian. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Eleana Doris Smith of Union; two sons, Ronald Keith Smith and his wife, Joan, of Tickfaw, La., and James Earl Smith and his wife, Rosemary, of Union; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Kyle Smith and his wife, Ashley, Nicholas Smith and his wife, Kim, Jordan Smith and his wife, Monica, Cassie Smith, Emily Edwards and Bobby, Anna Beckham and her husband, Justin, Bruce Smith, Chrystal McKinney and her husband, Larry, and Michelle Bondie.
He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, W.H. Smith and his wife, Sylvia, of Union and William “Bill” Goodwin and his wife, Irma, of Decatur; and two special adoptive sons, Otha Kennedy and David Lesage.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Scottie Smith; his parents, Gordon Lee and Sue Ellen Lundy Smith; his stepmother, Alma Goodwin Smith; three brothers, Majure Smith, Paul Smith and Bill Smith; and two sisters, Murlene Parker and Helen Moran.
Pallbearers were Christopher Smith, Kyle Smith, Nicholas Smith, Jordan Smith, Bruce Smith and Herschel Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Otha Kennedy and David Lesage.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of arrangements.
