Services for Mr. Johnny Lee Matlock were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Greenland Cemetery. Bros. David Robinson and Rusty Walton officiated.
Mr. Matlock, 75, of Union died Sunday, March 12, 2017, in Gulfport. He retired from Illinois Central Railroad as a conductor and engineer. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy in which he served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Matlock was a member of Greenland Baptist Church and Little Rock Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Matlock of Union; a son, J.R. Matlock of Little Rock;
two stepsons, Cory Moorehead and his wife, Chasity, of Union, and Charles "Rock" Schellback and his wife, Stephanie, of Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Ashley Blackwell of New Orleans, Robin Gamblin and her husband, Davis, of Philadelphia;
eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson; two brothers, Bill Matlock and his wife, Ruth, of Little Rock and Gerald Matlock and his wife, Sharon, of Hickory; and two sisters, Dot Williamson and her husband, S.A.,of Flora, Nita Humphreys and her husband, Ben, of Union.
Mr. Matlock was preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Madeline Matlock; and one brother, Willie Matlock.
Masons served as pallbearers and Dr. John Mutziger was an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
