Tommy Leach

Services for Mr. Tommy Lee Leach was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Pinckney Baptist Church Cemetery. Bros. Jon Doler and William Savell officiated.

Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

Mr. Leach,77, of Union died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Specialty Hospital of Meridian.

He graduated from Union High School and East Central Junior College. He also graduated from Mississippi State with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for a while with the Army Corps of Engineering in Vicksburg. While there, he felt the call to the ministry. He gave up his promising financial future to pursue this call.

He received his degree from New Orleans Baptist Seminary and was ordained by Pinckney Baptist Church. He received a doctorate degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He later completed the requirements to became a certified pastoral counselor. He spent most of his career in student ministry and in various counseling jobs.

Survivors include three sisters, Ina Faye Nelson of Union, Betty Culpepper and husband Sam of Jasper, Ala., and Rita Tullos and her husband, Terry, of Decatur; a brother, Melvin Douglas Leach of Union; four nephews, Derek Nelson and his wife, Rachel, of Doha, Qatar; Mark Nelson and his wife, Josette, of Oxford, Adam Tullos and his wife, Erin, of Tupelo, and Tracy Tullos and his wife, Kim, of Vicksburg;

a niece, Trisha Nelligan and her husband, Ray, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a foster niece, Dottie Sinclair of Cumming, Ga.; great nephews and nieces, Hugo, Oscar and Rosa Nelson; Kiersten, Landry and Kylee Tullos; Macy and Lana Nelligan; Bradley Hill and Danielle Blaser.

Mr. Leach was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Alice Byram Leach.

Pallbearers will be Adam Tullos, Mark Nelson, Tracy Tullos, Ray Nelligan, Joe Freeman and James Earl Cockerham.
