Brent joined The Appeal in April 2015 and is a 12-year veteran of newspapers. As publisher, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the newspaper. He has served as editor at the Hartselle (Ala.) Enquirer, The Alexander City (Ala.) Outlook and the Clanton (Ala.) Advertiser, where he has won numerous journalism awards.

 


DEMETRIUS THOMPSON, managing editor

Appeal editor Demetrius Thompson, a Bassfield native, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi and has worked for newspapers in Mississippi and Texas. He started his journalism career as a freelance reporter for the Simpson County News in Magee. Thompson has worked as a sports editor at the Mount Pleasant (Texas) Daily Tribune and the Vernon (Texas) Daily Record before moving back to his home state to work as a news editor at the Delta Democrat-Times in Greenville. Thompson previously worked as a copy editor at the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo and has done freelance work for the Denton (Texas) Chronicle.


AMANDA SKINNER, advertising

Amanda is the newspaper's advertising manager. She began her newspaper career at The Scott County Times in Forest and was employed at East Central Community College before joining the newspaper staff in 2014. She is married to Mike Skinner and the couple has three children.

Memory does a little bit of everything. She is your contact for any classifieds and legal advertising in The Appeal. She also can answer any questions you may have regarding billing or any other accounting issues.


BUBBA FINLEY, distribution
Bubba is the reason the newspaper makes it to your mailbox or the many newspaper racks each week. He is tasked with sorting, labeling and delivering newspapers across Newton County and into southern Neshoba County.
