Myers advances to state
Claire Myers of Newton County High School finished second at Class 4A South State powerlifting competition and advanced to state.
ECCC golf team claims 4th at MACJC Event No. 4 in Meridian
The East Central Community College golfers moved up one spot on the second day of play to finish in fourth place at the MACJC event No. 4 held March 5-6 at Northwood Country Club in Meridian.
As a team, the Warriors shot a 49-over par 617 over the two-day, 36-hole event.
Bailey Threlkeld led East Central with a tie for 14th and nine-over par 151 for the 36 holes. David Barry finished tied for 19th with a 12-over par 154; Jacob Hamner tied for 21st with a 13-over par 155; Nathan Davis of Newton County finished 23rd with a 15-over par 157; Jacob School finished tied for 29th with a 19-over par 161; Noah Nance of Hurley finished 42nd with a 31-over par 173; and Jacob Jenkins finished 47th with a 44-over par 186.
The Warriors will next compete in MACJC Event No. 5 March 24-25 at Ackia Golf Club in Amory.
East Central will host the MACJC Conference/State Tournament April 12-13 at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.
