Meridian VA Clinic to host Hepatitis C testing

We dodged a huge bullet with the snowstorm on Friday. Newton County received at least four inches of snow with pockets of heavier amounts. However, we were spared from having widespread power outages and impassable roadways.

At Monday’s Newton County Board of Supervisors meeting, new Emergency Management/911 director Bryan Taylor addressed the current state of the county’s 911 office. Currently, Newton County is on the cusp of a major upgrade of its 911 system.
The Hunter Engineering building was recently sold to the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors for $450,000 last week.
During the past week, Clarke-Venable Baptist pastor Mark Vincent was elected to lead the Mississippi Baptist Convention as president.
Vincent has served as Clark-Venable since June 2004. After much prayer and thought, he decided to accept the position if he was nominated and was elected.
This past weekend, the Union High School marching band took second place in the Mississippi High School Activities Association state band contest in Clinton.
Union only finished less than a half a point out of first place and won first place in subcategories percussion and visual performance.
