Union Summer League registration is underway

Registration for the Union Summer Recreation Summer League is underway. Parents can register at the Union City Hall until Feb. 16. The cost will be $45 for all ages and this does not include uniforms. For more information, call 601-774-9422.

Lake schools to host blood drive

Mississippi Blood Services will be holding blood drives at Lake Elementary School and Lake High School on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The MBS Donor Coach will be at Lake High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at Lake Elementary School from noon – 6 p.m. Donors will receive a T-shirt (while supplies last).

Donors must be at least 16 years old (16-year-olds need signed parental consent, visit the MBS web site for a copy of the form), weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid ID.

UES and UHS to hold beauty/beau pageants Jan. 27

Union Elementary will host its annual beauty/beau pageant for students in pre-K through fourth grade at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at in Huff Auditorium on the campus of East Central Community College. Admission is $5.  Union High School will host its annual beauty/beau pageant on the same date also at ECCC beginning at 7 p.m.  Admission is also $5.

Relay for Life  announces meeting dates

The Relay for Life planning committee has announced five meeting dates for this 2018.  The dates are:

• 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13

• 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13

• 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 (Bank night).

ECCC to host Father/daughter Valentine Dance” Feb. 9

The East Central Community College Choral Department will host a Father/Daughter Valentine Dance on Friday, Feb. 9 on the Decatur campus.

The event will feature a Princess Theme for ages five and up and will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria.

The cost is $30 per couple and if a father has more than one daughter, it is an additional $5 per child.  Light refreshments will be included.

Ministry hosts support groups

Free Indeed Ministries, 110 Main St., Union, is hosting weekly addiction support groups sponsored by Mending Broken Lives ministries at 7-8 p.m. every Tuesday night.
