Meridian VA Clinic to host Hepatitis C testing
The Meridian VA Community-Based Clinic; 2103 13th St., Meridian, will be conducting Hepatitis C testing for veterans from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 15.
If eligible veterans not enrolled in VA health care, VA staff will be on site to initiate enrollment, or veterans may call 855-574-7296 to complete an enrollment application, or visit their nearest VA medical center or clinic, or enroll online at vets.gov. Veterans must bring a valid picture ID to the clinic.
ECCCC to host home maintenance and repair class
The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a course in Home Maintenance and Repair beginning Monday, March 19 at the Philadelphia/Neshoba County Career-Technical Center located at 900 Valley View Drive.
Classes will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. for eight consecutive Monday nights. Cost is $100 per person and James Boykin will serve as instructor.

Newton County 4-H Club hosts robotics and LEGOS club
The Newton County 4-H Club will host a youth LEGOS and robotics club for children ages 5-7. The dash robotics will be at 3:30 p.m. March 22 at the MSU Extension Service Office in Decatur. Space is limited for this program. The LEGOS club will be for children ages 5 and up and will be at 3:30 p.m. March 29.

Union Chamber of Commerce to host annual banquet
The Union Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2018 membership banquet at 7 p.m. Friday, March 23 at First Baptist Church Union’s family life center. This year’s keynote speaker will be Union native U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly. Entertainment will be provided by The Josh Dickerson Band and will be sponsored by Quinn’s Family Pharmacy and Mississippi Power. Tickets can be purchased from any chamber board member or at Quinn’s Family Pharmacy, Citizen’s Bank or State Farm of Union.
Newton County 4-H Club to host Sewing 101
The Newton County 4-H Club will host a Sewing 101 class for youth ages 10 and up and adults at 3:30 p.m. March 26. There is no cost to join but there may be some expense involved in the program. For more information, call the MSU Extension Office at 601-635-7011.
ECCC invites vendors to participate in Expo
East Central Community College will host its 16th annual Business, Education, & Healthcare Expo from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the Decatur campus.

Loose Caboose vendor applications now available
The Newton Chamber of Commerce is now accepting craft and food vendor applications for Newton’s 15th Annual Loose Caboose Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, March 31. To enter, visit our webpage newtonchamberms.com, or call 601-683-2201 to receive a mailed application.
ECCC to hold cheerleader tryouts April 7, clinics April 3-5
East Central Community College in Decatur will hold tryouts for the 2018-19 cheerleading squad from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 7 in the South Campus Gymnasium. There is a $25 fee for all participants. Pre-tryout clinics will be held from 7-9 p.m. April 3-5 in the South Campus Gymnasium. During these sessions, participants will learn the cheer, fight song routine and stunts necessary for tryouts. Those wishing to tryout must attend at least one clinic.

CMRC to host community wide yard sale
Central Mississippi Resident Center will host a community-wide yard sale on the campus from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7. The sale will be sponsored by Friends of CMRC, and the set up fee for vendors is $25. All sales go to the vendors, and there is a $1 parking fee for shoppers.

Crossroads Head Start and Newton Early Head Start now accepting applications
Crossroads Head Start and Newton Early Head Start is now accepting applications for students. Children who will be eight weeks to 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1 are eligible as well as children with disabilities.
Parents or guardians must submit one document for proof of income, including a 2017 tax return or W2 form; and proof of the child’s age. Applications can be submitted at Crossroads, 401 East Railroad St., Newton, 601-683-3161, or at Newton Early Head Start, 403 Third St., Newton, 601-683-0205.
