Dezignz By Nikki hosted their 2nd Annual Bridal Bash on this past Saturday from 4-7p.m. on South Main Street. Each bride had the opportunity to register for their wedding at Dezignz By Nikki. The wedding party then walked over to Spoonfudge!

One bridge has reopened while another remains closed after Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency and ordered 87 bridges closed last week across the state.

East Central Community College sophomores Reagan Gorgas of Decatur and Laicon Partain of Sebastopol were named to the 2018 Phi Theta Kappa Community and Junior Colleges All-Mississippi Academic Team. 

Peyton Reeves blossomed on the basketball courts at Newton County this year.

Now the 6-foot-4 senior hopes the same thing will happen at Belhaven University in Jackson.











County picks up key victory

The schedule hasn’t been very kind to the Newton County tennis team this season.

Newton County picked up only one win last week, an important 7-0 win over Quitman while dropping matches to McGill-Toolen Academy and St. Paul’s Academy. Along the way, they also lost to 6A power Ocean Springs and traditional 5A power Oxford.




Lake 2-2 during spring break

The Lake Lady Hornets split four games over the spring break as they get ready to begin division softball play.

Playing at Kosciusko on Monday, Lake lost 8-3 to the Lady Whippets and then beat Ethel 15-2. On Saturday at the Clarkdale Tournament at Northeast Park, Lake beat West Harrison 13-7 and lost 6-2 to Bay High.
