Frances Herrington Leach Strickland
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Herrington Leach Strickland will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at Stephens Funeral Home of Union. The Revs. Bobby Barfoot and Don Cook will be officiating the services. Burial will be in New Ireland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Strickland, 95, of Union, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at J.G. Alexander Nursing Facility.
During her life, Mrs. Strickland and her family were involved in farming, as many other families at that time. She also worked for many years at the shirt factory and then was a sitter for the elderly. It was said that she loved the elderly she cared for very much and they in turn loved her. Mrs. Strickland in her latter years could be found working with plants and flowers, of which her favorite was daylilies. She was a member of New Ireland Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Thomas Leach (Gennie), James Lavelle Leach (Cynthia) and Henry Gerald Leach (Dorothy Page); and two daughters, Rebecca Ann Brown (Jessie) and Debbie L. Gilmore (George).
Mrs. Strickland is also survived by her brother, James Herrington; 16 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; and 17 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lettie Herrington; husbands Woodrow Leach and Bill Strickland; and five siblings Raymond Herrington, Aldia Bufkin, Earline Hurt, Pauline Barrett and Bobbie Herrington.
Pallbearers will be Sky Mosely, Ken Shackleford, Peyton Robertson, Chris Williams, Carlos Leach and Danny Lucky. Honorary pallbearers will be Ignacio Ramirez, Randall Page, Joe Freeman, Dewitt and Nelda Kennedy, Cory Dean and John Williams.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until service time on Sunday.
