James E. Daniel, 72, of Chunky, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was born Sunday, Oct. 14, 1945 in Meridian.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Newton County Funeral Home — South in Newton. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17 at Providence Baptist Church, Duffee, with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Bros. Jackie Strebeck and Lin Chesney officiated. Newton County Funeral Home — South was in charge of arrangements.
James retired from La-Z-Boy after several years of faithful employment. He enjoyed farming and fishing. He loved his family and will truly be missed by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James N. and Julia A. Daniel.
Survivors include his sisters, Wanda Todd (Jerry), of Hickory, Patricia Butts, Birmingham, Ala.; a niece, Christie Peterson (Kyle), of Birmingham; a great nephew, Sidney Peterson; and a great niece, Sophie Peterson.
Pallbearers were Kyle Peterson, Pat Wells, Mike Chaney, Eugene Alexander, Jerry Cooley, Demp Parks and Tyler Overby.
Honorary pallbearers were George Todd, Ralph Chaney and Mickey Bunyard.
