Walter Floyd

Mr. Walter Lamar Floyd, 75, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Jan. 26, 2018.

Lamar was born in Meridian to Thomas and Elna Floyd.

He is survived by wife of over 48 years Janice Floyd; two sons, Billy Floyd (Cindy) and Pete Floyd (April); a daughter-in-law, Amy Floyd; six grandchildren, Courtney Pitts (BJ), Chasity Floyd, Rayleigh Floyd, William Lamar Floyd, Ty Fleming and Dillon Fleming; three great-grandchildren, Layton Underwood, Cooper Pitts and Dallen Floyd; a sister, Millie Partridge (Eddie); and an uncle, Mabry Banes; a host of nieces and nephews.

Lamar loved fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Pallbearers will be Matt Creighton, Phillip Speed, Joe Hardy Speed, Scott Mosley, Carl McNeil, Matthew Bogan and Jason Reynolds.

Honorary pallbearers will be BJ Pitts, Kevin Bogan, Mabry Banes, J.W. Reynolds, B.W. Moore, Billy Wayne Mosley and Stanley Herrington.

He was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Elna Floyd; his step-mother, Lucille Floyd, two sisters, Waldine McNeil, Sarah Bogan; and a brother, Carlton Floyd.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Services for Mr. Lamar Floyd will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29 at Newton County Funeral Home-South. Bro Keith Bogan and Rev. Gary Howse will officiate. Burial will follow at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton.
