Johnston, Tatum announce their engagement
Mr. and Mrs. William L. Johnston of Decatur announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Maegan Leigh Johnston, to Jim Q. “JQ” Tatum IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Q. Tatum III of Taylor.
The couple will exchange vows this spring in Taylor.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Austin L. Johnston of Decatur and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. “Pete” Roach of Newton.
A graduate of Newton County High School and East Central Community College, she attended the University of Mississippi to obtain her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees. She is currently pursing a Doctor of Philosophy in counselor education and supervision degree.
She is a licensed professional counselor and works as a school-based therapist in the Oxford community and as a graduate instructor and counselor for the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience at the University of Mississippi.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. Jim Q. “Brother” Tatum Jr. and the late Mrs. Jewel U. Tatum of Taylor, and the late Mr. James Smith and Mrs. Nancy F. Smith of Oxford.
A graduate of Lafayette High School, he attended Northwest Community College and the University of Mississippi where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering degree. He is an engineering technician for the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
