Newton County High School: Peoples Signs Rodeo Scholarship with University of West Alabama

Newton County High School hosted a scholarship signing ceremony on March 26 for senior Joiner Peoples at the Newton County Career Tech Center. In front of his friends and family, Peoples signed a Rodeo Team scholarship with the University of West Alabama.

Baseball Roundup: Newton County Blasts Leake Central in Doubleheader, Bobcats Win Two

It was another busy week on the local baseball diamonds.
Newton County won three out of four games last week to highlight the action while Union and Sebastopol each won two games.

Union’s Jon Perry repeated at state champion in the 242-pound weight class with a total of 1,690-pound total. His weight total led all weight classes in the MHSAA.

Powerlifting Roundup: Lake Finishes Second in Class 2A State Championship, Yellowjackets Take Third in Class 3A

The Union powerlifting team didn’t win a team state championship, but the Yellowjackets had the strongest person at the entire meet.
Union’s Jon Perry lifted 1,690 pounds which led all weight classes in all classes, making him the strongest person in the MHSAA.

Softball Roundup: Lady Hornets Defeat Sebastopol, Newton County Dominates NE Lauderdale

The Newton County Lady Cougars improved to 16-2 on the season as they added two more run-rule wins.
The Sebastopol Lady Bobcats also had a big week, winning three out of four games.
